Privacy Policy

We keep things simple: we collect as little information as we need, we don't sell it, and we tell you plainly what's going on. This page explains what we collect when you visit this site, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

Who we are

Agape Respite Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located at 357 SW 10th Street, Newport, OR 97365. This privacy policy applies to information collected through our website at agaperespitecenter.org ("the site"). It does not cover information you share with us in person at the center, by phone, or by mail.

What we collect

We collect two kinds of information through this site:

  • Information you give us directly — for example, when you fill out the contact form (your name, email, phone, and message) or send a donation.
  • Information collected automatically — basic technical information about your visit, such as your browser type, approximate location (country, region), pages you viewed, and how you arrived at the site. This is collected through Google Analytics, as described below.

We do not ask for, collect, or store any information from people who visit us in person at the center through this website. Walking in the door is anonymous.

Google Analytics & cookies

We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, to understand how people find and use our site. This helps us figure out which pages are useful, fix things that are broken, and make decisions about what to add next.

Google Analytics collects information such as:

  • Your IP address (truncated/anonymized before being stored)
  • The approximate geographic region you're visiting from (country, state, city)
  • The device, operating system, and browser you're using
  • The pages you view on our site, in what order, and for how long
  • The website or search engine that referred you to us

Google Analytics uses small text files called cookies stored on your device to help us recognize repeat visits and to measure how the site is performing. We use Google Analytics 4, which uses cookies with names beginning with _ga and _ga_.

We have configured Google Analytics with IP anonymization, and we do not use Google Analytics features that share personal data with Google for advertising purposes. We do not run ads on this site.

For more information on how Google handles this data, see Google's Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Opt out

You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking site-wide by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by enabling "Do Not Track" or a similar privacy setting in your browser.

Contact form & email

If you fill out the contact form on our site, we receive the name, email, phone number (if you provide one), and message you submit. We use this information only to reply to your message. We don't add you to any mailing list or share your information with anyone outside our small team.

We keep contact-form messages in our email inbox the same way we keep any other email. You can ask us to delete a message at any time by emailing us — see Contact us below.

Donations & financial information

Online donations are processed by PayPal. When you donate, you complete your payment on PayPal's own website, and PayPal handles your payment information directly. We never see or store your credit card or bank account numbers.

We do receive certain donation details from PayPal — typically your name, email address, the donation amount, and (if you choose to share it) your mailing address — so we can thank you, provide a receipt, and keep accurate financial records as required of a nonprofit.

PayPal's handling of your information is governed by its own privacy policy.

Third-party services we use

This site relies on a small number of third-party services that may receive information about your visit:

  • Google Analytics — for traffic measurement (see above).
  • Google Fonts — for typography. Google receives the IP address of your browser when fonts are loaded.
  • PayPal — for processing online donations (see above).
  • Facebook — we link to our Facebook page. If you click the link and are logged into Facebook, Facebook will know you visited their page from our site. We do not embed Facebook pixels or tracking scripts on this site.
  • Unsplash — some photographs on the site are hosted on Unsplash; loading them sends a basic request to Unsplash's servers.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information with anyone, for any purpose.

How we use the information we collect

  • To reply to questions you send us through the contact form, by phone, or by email.
  • To process and acknowledge your donation, and to provide a tax receipt.
  • To understand how people use the site so we can improve it.
  • To meet our legal and financial reporting obligations as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

Your choices & rights

You can:

  • Opt out of analytics tracking using the browser add-on linked above, or by using your browser's "Do Not Track" / privacy settings.
  • Block cookies in your browser settings. The site will continue to work normally.
  • Ask us what we have — email us and we'll tell you what information we hold that's tied to you (typically: nothing more than a contact-form message you sent, or a donation record).
  • Ask us to delete it — we'll honor reasonable requests, except where we are required to retain a record (for example, donation records for tax purposes).

Children's privacy

This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information through this site, please contact us and we will delete it.

Data security

We use reasonable technical and administrative measures to protect the limited information we hold. This site is served over HTTPS, and we keep the small amount of information we receive (contact-form messages, donation records) in secure email and accounting systems. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, however, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time — for example, if we start using a new tool or service. When we do, we'll update the "Effective" date at the top of the page. Material changes will also be highlighted briefly on this page for at least 30 days.
